Actually, there is a place where you can see cherry blossoms even in January and February.

It is Atami. It takes one hour from Tokyo by Shinkansen bullet train.

Although it is not as well known as Tokyo or Osaka, it is very famous among Japanese people and is a popular tourist destination visited by over 3 million people a year.

Why is it so popular? It is because of its mild climate, hot springs, and the sea and seafood.

In Atami, there is an early-blooming cherry tree called "Atami Cherry Blossom. This early-blooming cherry blossom can be seen from mid-January.

A cherry blossom festival is held every year from mid to late January.

Ume plum blossoms also bloom at this time of year, making it the first time in Japan (even if you do not go to Okinawa!) that you can see both plum blossoms and cherry blossoms together.

You can feel spring early and take a hot spring bath.

Atami is a very popular tourist destination for Japanese people who love hot springs.

As of January 18, the early plum trees in Atami Plum Garden are in bloom.

From November 11 to December 3, the "Autumn Leaves Festival" will be held at Atami Plum Garden.

This Autumn Leaves Festival is said to be the lateest autumn leaves festival in Japan. It is a recommended sightseeing spot to see early-blooming ume during the festival period; in 2023, several flowers were confirmed to have bloomed on October 18.

In addition, Atami's ume plum blossoms are presented to the imperial family every winter.

Fireworks displays are usually held in summer. However, Atami City holds fireworks displays all year round.

The next one is scheduled to be held on September 18 , 30.(2023)

It will be approximately 20 minutes long and 3,000 fireworks will be shot off.

The fireworks display will be held rain or shine.May be cancelled on days of typhoons or strong winds.

It takes one hour from Tokyo to Atami by Shinkansen bullet train.

You can enjoy it as a day trip.

However, recent fireworks shows have been extremely crowded.

If you wish to enjoy the festival on a day trip, we recommend that you prepare your return ticket in advance.

After the fireworks display is over, Atami Station may be so crowded that admission restrictions are imposed.

It is recommended to check the timetable a few trains later than the one you plan to board.

Tokiwagi Yokan Shop will be open at Atami Station from Tuesday, June 13th to Monday, June 19th.
